Gavini M.D Subject:
Selling Online ADHD Tests Raises Serious Ethical Concerns
Dear Dr. Gavini,
Our organization, Ablechild.org, in conjunction with an affiliate organization, Texans For Safe Education, have been contacted by many parents in the last month complaining that you are soliciting money from unsuspecting parents by providing them with what you claim to be ADD/ADHD online “tests” at a charge. Ablechild
would like to point out to you that the National Institute of Health has
stated: "We
don't have an independent, valid test for ADHD and there are no data to
indicate that ADHD is due to a brain malfunction”. The
NIH is specific in stating that there is NO Valid Test for ADD/ADHD.
There can be no misinterpretation.
Based on this fact, Ablechild requests that you explain why you are
claiming to parents that you have a test(s) to determine ADD/ADHD and why
on top of this claim you are taking money for it?
As a result of your Internet solicitation, both Ablechild and
Texans For Safe Education are seeking a copy of your certification of
validation from the NIH and all other appropriate Government agencies
authenticating your test(s). Please
provide us with a legible copy of the same. In the interim, both
Ablechild and Texans For Safe Education are requesting that you
immediately stop misrepresenting the facts to parents and provide them
with what should be their basic right to Full Informed Consent.
You have an obligation to the public and its safety to do this.
We
strongly urge you to heed our recommendations and Cease and Desist
continued solicitation of ADD/ADHD online “tests”. Respectfully, Sheila Matthews National Vice President Ablechild.org203-966-8419 Fax: 203-966-2840 Dr. John Breeding Founder and President Texans

K. Gavini, M.D.F.A.A.P. Pediatrics
& Adolescent Medicine Dear
Ms. Sheila Matthews Thank
you for your input regarding the ADHD online test. The test is
meant to help the parents administer a simple test at home before
spending hundreds of dollars in professional consultations. The
amount we charge $4.99 is not even covering the Google and Yahoo search
engine fee. I have received emails from several parents
complimenting the inexpensive tool and thanking me for it. However,
due to your objection and the complaints from other parents, I decided
to delist the test and stop running it on the Internet. If I can
be of any assistance, please let me know. Thanking
you, Yours
Sincerely, Vinaya
K. Gavini, M.D.
